What We Offer

Located nearly 20 miles from any other public library, Spicewood Community Library provides a variety of services to the residents of this area. The library opened in 2007 on 100% private funding with no county or state assistance.  Except for Burnet County providing a part-time employee to help manage the library added in 2015, all costs to operate the library are borne by the Friends of the Spicewood Community Library, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.  With fundraising success from numerous donors and fundraising activities, the library now offers:

  • Over 10,000 books, DVDs and audio books

  • 24/7/365 Wi-Fi access in the parking lot

  • 5 Patron PCs equipped with popular software and high-speed Internet access

  • Large children's section

  • Access to thousands of e-books and audio books to check out via download

  • Fax (local and toll free numbers only) and copy services

  • Adult book club and children's reading program

  • Periodic continuing education workshops

  • Monthly services such as free vision screenings and Lawyer in the Library

  • Community meeting room

  • Thrift store

Other Services

  • Free online access to thousands of eBooks, videos and eAudiobooks through Overdrive.
  • Notary services free of charge when notary is working
  • Fax Machine ($1.50 first page, $1.00 a page after that to send)
  • Copier ($0.10 per page single sided, $0.20 per page double sided)

Staff must fax all materials and patron confidentiality and privacy will be maintained. If a patron has multiple items and/or there are other patrons in the library needing assistance, non-library services take a lesser priority.

WARNING CONCERNING COPYRIGHT RESTRICTIONS

The Copyright Law of 1976 (United States Code, Title 17) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specific conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research." If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction [including that made by electronic transmission of reserve material] for purposes in excess of "fair use," that user may be liable for copyright infringement.
