2009 Fundraisers Big Success!  Thank you Spicewood!

You will all be happy to know that we are going to take a break for a while from fundraising.  You are welcome, even encouraged, to send the library a check or join the Friends of the Spicewood Community Library at any time.  We are just choosing to NOT ask you so often for a while.

The BBQ/Auction and the Garage Sale raised a total of about $25,000 after expenses.  That, added to our current savings, will permit us to more seriously explore adding on to the front of the library providing much needed space for additional books, meeting and storage space.  The board will be looking into the options, alternatives, costs, and potential corporate sponsors for materials and labor.  Keep coming back to this web site to learn more.

Volunteers Needed

If you can spare a few hours per month to work a four-hour shift or two in the library, give us a call.  We can use some additional volunteers to work with experienced staff volunteers to on-the-job learn our library operations system and to assist patrons within the library.  Trust us, it isn't complicated, you'll meet new friends, and be providing important community services.  You can call the library at 693-7892 and leave a message or call our volunteer coordinator (and past president), Wilma Swann at 693-6574

CIRCULATION POLICY

The Spicewood Community Library has been open for over a year.  For the first year, the fines for overdue books were waived.  This changed in September.  Beginning September 1, 2008, fines will apply for overdue items .  These fines will need to be cleared before other material is checked out.  If you have overdue items, please make sure they are returned or renewed before they become overdue.  Please get those overdue books back in!  We would all appreciate it.

Up to 10 items may be checked out  per card at any time.  Items are checked out for 3 weeks with one renewal possible.

Overdue items are charged $0.10 per overdue day.  When a patron has fines assessed against them, the outstanding fines must be cleared before checking out additional items.
